Is There Anyone Out There?

It’s been awhile since I last updated. I know I’m on Buzznet everyday posting Buzznet Originals, but I haven’t been commenting or posting anything, I've just been really busy.

Basically I’ve gotten my shit together offline, it wasn’t easy but I finally got here. I’m in a relationship & been spending time with him. I’m sorry for not being around as much, but I do miss my Buzznet peeps a lot.

Seb's Guide to Buzznet

Before I begin I need to clarify as few things, I donâ�™t and never have worked for Buzznet, these are all random things Iâ�™ve found out how to do, most of these might be useless and hopefully some are useful to help you to navigate around Buzznet easier.

You donâ�™t have to read the whole journal; Iâ�™ve spilt it into sections so you can read the bits that you might find helpful (because this is going to be a long arse journal)

Important People to Know on Buzznet

PanasonicYouth (Mark) the reason is his page is like the hub of Buzznet & is the best place to find out what is going on in the community. He can also help you if you have problems with other Buzznet users, problems with your page and any other Buzznet problems, but I donâ�™t think he can help to bring your hamster back to life so he does have some limitations.

BreeSay (Bree) is the best place to check out links to other Buzznet users. Iâ�™ve discovered some really amazing people just by checking out the links. She is also a real sweet heart and a great source for pop culture.

ElRich (Richard) also posts links to other Buzznet uses & again a great place to find other Buzznet members amazing talent. He also post journals about the community, so lots of fun stuff to discover.

How to add yourself as a friend

Before I tell you how I need to tell you why. I added myself a long time ago as a joke, after I added myself I found that I was able to view my post in my Friend Feed. It gave me clue of what it look liked to others; I also found out once that some photo posted to private galleries still show up in the friend feed (but not all).

How to do it; go to your profile page (the one that people can view). Where your page address is at the top of the page type this; private/ at the end. For example; http://PUT YOUR USER NAME HERE.buzznet.com/user/private/ (make sure it doesnâ�™t have main in the address as this will stop it from working). Next click on Request YOUR USER NAME to add you. Shortly after that you will receive a message from BuzzBot telling you that you want to add yourself. (You think Iâ�™m a loser now donâ�™t ya?)

Feature Photos

One of the most controversial topics on Buzznet. If you want to how to suggest one go here it tells you how.

If you want to find out who suggested your photo go here; click me. I love to visit that page just to look at all the stunning images other Buzznet users create.

Have you ever wondered if a photo youâ�™ve suggested has been featured? The way you find out this is; put this address into your browser http://www.buzznet.com/featured/by/PUT YOUR USER NAME HERE/, this will list EVERY photo you that has been suggested by you and got featured . If you suggested a photo, but you see someone elseâ�™s name against it as the suggester donâ�™t get upset as itâ�™s about their photo not you.

Tip to get the ones you suggested featured; DONâ�™T click the suggest button on EVERY photo you see instead just do it for the ones you reaaaaaaly lub.

How to get comments

NEVAR send a bulletin begging for people to comment & check out your posts. All sending a bulletin does is makes people think you are from MySpace, donâ�™t care about other people posts and you will be ridiculed. Dropping people notes about your post is acceptable, but only on people you regular comment on; otherwise it looks like a spam fest.

There is only one simple way to get comments on you content if you arenâ�™t an internet celebrity; comment on other peopleâ�™s content. Show an interest in them and they will show an interest in you. If people comment on your content & you NEVAR comment back, people will eventually stop commenting on your posts (I try to comment everyone back, but I seem to run out of time). Other thing to remember is; what is your demographic age group? 80% or maybe more are teenagers, so donâ�™t post scary photos or weird journals. If any of you do find something that does scare you or you find disturbing report it to Mark or Richard.

Be nice to people & they are more likely to keep coming back to your page. :)

Adding more than 12 Profile Photos

On Buzznet the max of profile photos used to be 12, but now there is away to get as many as you want. Do the following;
1) Create a private gallery
2) Upload a photo into the private gallery
3) Once the photo is uploaded go to it and under the photo there is an option button; click on it, then select the option Add As Profile Photo.

Bingo you have a new profile photo without having to double post the photo (which confuses people and they donâ�™t know which one to comment on).

Blocked!

How to block someone from your page click me. Note that you canâ�™t block Buzznet staff from your page (but why would you want to?)

OK most of you know how to block someone, but for those havenâ�™t had the pleasure of being block from someoneâ�™s page this is what it looks like click me (If you are Buzznet staff this link will not work for you)

Buzzmakers

How to become a Buzzmaker; I donâ�™t have a clue. I know I am one, but the reason why Iâ�™m one is completely different to why say for argument sake Jeffree Star is one. The only advise I will give is just be yourself and donâ�™t copy what other Buzzmakers do in hopes that you will become one. If you remember that Buzznet is fun and not about badges you should be OK. :)

Be yourself and post content that you have produced yourself for more information; Buzznet Originals CRITERION and this is My Views on Buzznet Originals.

How to meet people

Join a group that interests you and you are bound to meet people with the same interests as you. Go here to check out all the groups on Buzznet click me. My favourite groups are Question Of The Day and Buzznet Originals.

Tags

They are mainly used to put thing of the same subject matter in the same place and Iâ�™m guess you all use; but I bet you didnâ�™t know it takes sometimes about an hour for things to show up on tag pages.

Videos

At the moment there is still a waiting time for videos available for public viewing if you upload videos directly to Buzznet and now for the ways round it;

1) Upload the video to a group then post a link on your page to the video
2) Create a Vimeo then use the embed codes to upload the video to Buzznet.
I didnâ�™t suggest to open a You Tube account, because the quality isnâ�™t that good; unless you have the HD option, but I donâ�™t think you can get that on using embeds alone.

My Views on Buzznet Originals

Awhile ago I started to realise how much itâ�™s changed on Buzznet since I joined up nearly two years ago. The people that were popular back then were the people who posted band photos of fan sites. After the OG badges were introduced, things started to change as people realised that original content was recognised as something worthy. Now there is so much incredible original content on Buzznet. I wonder if when Funks and Mark created the Buzznet Originals group; they ever though it would have such an amazing and positive impact.

Sometimes itâ�™s been clear that people donâ�™t understand the group fully and thatâ�™s why the Buzznet Original Criterion was written. Itâ�™s disappointing when some people ignore important points and have taken it on themselves to steal photos from other internet photo communities. The HUGE problem is they get caught; are disqualified as it breaks the TOS and they are suspended/banned from Buzznet. On occasion the photo thieves have been caught in the act by other Buzznet members and have been exposed publically for their shameful act by these Buzznetters on the Buzznet Original Suggestion thread.

The heartbreaking thing is all it takes to become a Buzznet Original is to post content that is produced by you. People donâ�™t have to be a professional photographer or have fancy equipment. In essence all they need is an imagination and a willingness to share their world. I loved Christiexox so much, because she uses a cell phone to take photos and she is open about her life. Iâ�™m a HUGE fan of StarlorSummers journals (add him and enjoy his awesomeness) when Ashley did his write-up he had only one photo (that was his profile photo).

I fear that photo thieves do it in hope that becoming a Buzznet Originals will make them popular, but itâ�™s not the badge that makes people popular. Almost all of the OGs that are on the popular page virtually every day were there before they became OGs. They got there from taking an interest and commenting on their friendâ�™s posts, because then their friends comment back (itâ�™s not rocket science, yo!). Alas I guess if the photo thieves are too lazy to read the TOS, Buzznet Criterion, push a button to take a photo then sure as shit they are too lazy to look at other peopleâ�™s content on Buzznet.

I hope that the need to steal photos to become a Buzznet Original will past. The people that may think that cheating is the only way wonâ�™t read this journal, but I had to rant about it.

The Buzznet Experiment

Last week I had Spanky the Monkey week (OMG that sounds dirty). I did it just to have some fun, oops if I forgot to add you. On the Sunday before I started; I un-added anyone that didnâ�™t link to me, because there is no point having people on my friends list that didnâ�™t link to me.

I also took some photos for the Photo Assignment #6: The Perfect Day

I never expected to get 3 feature photos & so many comments on Spanky the Monkey account. So thank you to everyone that took part.

I made me think (dangerous I know); if I could do that with no badges & a small friends list surely anyone could do that. I decided to send out the bulletin out

So I got some volunteers. I looked at their stats, from there I gave them each some advice;

If they had more people on their friends than linking to them I told them to maybe un-add those people. I personally do this every Sunday, because Iâ�™m a sad loser & I believe there is no point having people on my friends list that didnâ�™t link to me.

Then I gave them the simple plan of unloading a photo, comment on as many friend stuff as they could leaving an hour between postings & only upload the maximum of 3 things a day. These are the things I do when I post things, I know I don't always get round to commneting everyone, but I'm not home all day, I need to; shit, piss, eat & sleep (not always in that order).

I really believe that it would maybe make a difference. The following people in no particular order;

They all told me that they felt a positive difference, which is the main thing. I wanted to prove that people donâ�™t need badges to get attention. I was secretively hoping to see them on the popular page, but I donâ�™t think itâ�™s a failure that they didnâ�™t.

I think it has more to do with how you want to be on Buzznet rather than the Credentials someone has. I also realised that the amount of comments I can make in one day is the same amount that most people make in a week & this is the reason why I get comments.

Some one that had nothing to do with this experiment got my attention though;

One week on Buzznet & this person is on the popular page. It proves that it is all about getting attention from having fun & taking interest in what other people post (& making crazy arse comments that make people laugh).

Remember kids Buzznet is for fun, so letâ�™s keep it that way (I need to tell this to myself more).

Badgers cause too much trouble.

Itâ�™s true watch your back. If you get a badger people will be jealous of you & want one too. Not everyone can have one there is a lot of responsibility that comes with them.

You canâ�™t buy them & should never ask for one. The most important thing to remember is a badger is something to love & be grateful if you get one. If you donâ�™t have a badger please donâ�™t be jealous of people with them & new disrespect the owner of a badger.

Badger have feelings.

(I hope people know this is a joke, so please laugh).
